Howdy!
I currently serve as a newscast producer on Good Day at KDFW Fox 4 in Dallas. The six-hour program is the top-rated morning newscast in the market. I discovered my passion for broadcast journalism in 2016 during my internship at KBTX in Bryan, Texas. There, I had the opportunity to produce my first newscast, and the moment I walked out of the booth, I knew producing was what I wanted to "be when I grew up." Later that same year, I was hired as a full-time producer. My first day was Election Day 2016, a day I'll never forget. Over the last five years, I have produced shows during two presidential elections, a pandemic, weeks of protests for racial justice, a riot at the U.S. Capitol, and a historic court case overturned by the Supreme Court and I'm just getting started. In 2020, I also spearheaded A Brighter Tomorrow, a segment designed to break the stigma surrounding mental health by reporting in-depth on mental health-related issues. As the special assignments producer, I scheduled reporters' assignments, coordinated interviews with trusted sources, and composed digital and broadcast content. I also conducted any additional research needed to provide our audience with accurate, science-based information. I am also happy to provide samples of this project upon request. In May 2021, I earned my Master's degree in Journalism from the University of Missouri. Prior to attending the University of Missouri School of Journalism, I graduated Magna Cum Laude from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Communications and Journalism. Over the past several years, I have worked with KDFW Fox 4, KOMU 8 News, Country Legends 97.1, KBTX Media, and Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. A beloved mentor of mine once told me that producing a newscast is like preparing a great meal: all of the individual items must be balanced and presented in an appealing manner. Producing is the right career for me because I treasure the responsibility of gathering all of the day's news and constructing a newscast that is easy for my audience to digest. In addition, journalism is crucial in educating and informing the public. I look forward to connecting with you! |
